Both Viagra and sildenafil are widely used to treat erectile dysfunction. In fact, they contain the same active ingredient. Viagra is a brand name for the sildenafil produced and sold by the company Pfizer. Sildenafil is also sold as a generic drug, which is medically identical to Viagra.

“If you are taking any of the following medications that are being sold online, you should not take the online prescription drug as it contains counterfeit versions of the active ingredients in the products you bought. If you are having trouble getting an online prescription drug, please consult your doctor,” a WHO spokesperson said.
Viagra, which contains sildenafil, was approved by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in 1998 to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) and the inability to achieve and maintain a heart rate that is too slow, too fast or too high. Viagra is available in tablet form and contains the same active ingredients as the original drug, but is administered by mouth, so the FDA has advised patients to avoid taking Viagra as it contains an unknown amount of the active ingredients.
It is also known as sildenafil citrate, or “Sildenafil,” and is taken by mouth and is available in the following forms: 10, 20 and 40 mg pills, which are sold as 100 mg pills, 25 mg pills and 50 mg pills.
The WHO also issued a statement on the sale of illegal online Viagra.
The statement said: “We believe that this is a serious and potentially dangerous practice of counterfeit and unregistered pharmaceutical products. The WHO and Health Canada strongly urge people to seek medical advice if they are taking any of the following medications that could potentially interact with the active ingredients in the products they are purchasing: Sildenafil (Viagra), Tadalafil, vardenafil (Levitra), Vardenafil, vardenafil hydrochloride, sildenafil citrate (DiaBeta), Sildenafil hydrochloride, vardenafil hydrochloride, vardenafil magnesium, tadalafil, vardenafil magnesium, vardenafil hydrochloride, vardenafil hydrochloride and sildenafil citrate.”
The statement was updated to reflect that the online sale of Viagra was illegal.
Dr Andrew Dudum, a senior consultant at the WHO’s Centre for Medical Research and the Global Health, said: “This is the most serious and widespread online drug counterfeit being used. It is so widespread that there is no single national authority that can take the action required to stop it.”Dr Andrew Dudum said: “In order to stop a drug from being sold to the general public, it must be prescribed by a licensed doctor who is certified to prescribe it. The online prescription drug is a form of medication, so if the online prescription drug is a form of medication, then it must be prescribed by a doctor who is certified by Health Canada, the WHO, or the European Medicines Agency (EMA).”
Dr Andrew Dudum said: “In many countries, online pharmacies are not regulated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and have been in use for years. The WHO and Health Canada have not warned consumers about the risks of buying drugs online because they are not registered and regulated by the FDA.”
